Involving parents in the school library

The wider community: I have always believed that a school does not exist in isolation, and that an educator who is privileged to work in a well-resourced environment, with access to professional development opportunities, has an obligation to reach out to the community, and support the educators in other schools.

Qatar Reads was set up by a group of teachers wishing to facilitate the sharing of skills and knowledge in the area of literacy, with teachers in schools in Doha. Three times a year Qatar Reads organizes “Teachers Teaching Teachers” workshops in order to fulfill its Vision and Aims which are:
  • to promote literacy at all educational levels
  • to stimulate interest in recent research in literacy
  • to promote professional development among the various schools in Qatar as regards literacy-related events and issues
  • to sponsor author visits within the preK-12 Qatar educational environment
Board member from 2007. Responsible for creating newsletters, and arranging programs for TTTs.
